WIDA ACCESS
for Kindergarten
Grades/Students: All current English Language Learners (ELLs) in grade Kindergarten.
Date: Administered in January/March of each school year.
Description: Kindergarten ACCESS is a paper-based test individually administered to kindergarten students in an interactive format.
Grades/Students: All current English Language Learners (ELL) in grades 1-12.
Date: Administered in January/March of each school year.
Description: WIDA ACCESS Online is a computer-based, adaptive test that responds to student performance. The WIDA ACCESS Online assesses students’ English language proficiency and gains in four domains: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

WIDA Screener Online
Grades/Students: All new students that enter M-DCPS (including Charter Schools) in grades 1-12 and answer one or more affirmative response (s) in the Home Language Survey (HLS) will be assessed with the WIDA Screener Online. All students who have been receiving English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services for three years or more (anniversary date), will need to be assessed with the WIDA Screener Online for extension of ESOL.
Date: The assessment is administered at time of entry to potential English Language Learners (ELLs) new to the District (grades 1-12) and for extension of ESOL services.
Description: The WIDA Screener Online is a criterion-referenced test administered to measure students’ proficiency and gains in English in four domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Grades/Students: All students that enter M-DCPS in grade K, and answer one or more affirmative response(s) in the Home Language Survey (HLS), are administered this assessment to determine placement in the ESOL program.
Date: The assessment is administered as needed.
Description: Miami-Dade County Oral Language Proficiency Scale – Administered to English Language Learners (ELLs) to determine student’s oral language proficiency.
